Spaying of females is the removal of the entire reproduction tract and neutering of males is the removal of the testicles. Both of these procedures are performed under general anesthesia and with very strict sterile cleaning guidelines.

For females spaying helps eliminate the possibility of uterine cancer, ovarian cancer and reduces the chances of breast cancer.In males neutering helps decrease the risk of benign prostatic hyperplasia, prostatic cancer and testicular cancer.
